## Sing Lun Holdings CEO Lee Kian Hing Elected SBF New Chairman
Lee Kian Hing has been elected as the new Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), succeeding former Chairman Teo Siong Seng, who earlier announced he would step down and not seek re-election.
SBF held its 24th Annual General Meeting on June 24 and elected the 13th Council, serving a two-year term until 2028.
## New Council Composition and New Members
SBF said in a statement that the new council comprises 24 members: 12 elected councilors, 11 representatives from trade associations and chambers, and one co-opted councilor.
Six new councilors include:
- Adam Click, Chairman of AmCham Singapore
- Mo Sihong, President of the Restaurant Association of Singapore
- Lee Teck Ming, Chairman of SGTech
- Suhaimi Zainul-Abidin, CEO of hedge fund Quantedge Capital
## Future Ready Business Dialogue: Whole-of-System Readiness
During the AGM, SBF also held the fifth Future Ready Business Dialogue, with Guest of Honour Minister for Public Service and Defence Chan Chun Sing.
The dialogue, themed "Whole-of-System Readiness: What Must Government and Businesses Change," gathered business leaders and policymakers to discuss how companies can enhance resilience, build future-ready capabilities, and navigate growing uncertainties.
## Lee Kian Hing's Priorities: Competitiveness, Resilience, Internationalization
The new Chairman, also a Nominated MP, said geopolitical tensions, rapid AI development, and shifting trade patterns are reshaping the global economy, bringing challenges and opportunities for businesses.
He emphasized that the top priority is to ensure businesses remain competitive, resilient, and future-ready; and will work closely with businesses, government, and industry partners to develop practical solutions, create a pro-business environment, and help companies build capabilities for innovation, internationalization, and sustainable growth.
He also noted that Singapore will chair ASEAN next year, presenting an opportunity to deepen regional economic integration and cement ASEAN as a key engine of global growth. SBF will work with regional partners to turn opportunities into tangible business outcomes, making ASEAN more connected, innovative, and sustainable.
## Background and Chairman Transition
Lee previously served as SBF Vice-Chairman and Treasurer. He also acted as Chairman during Teo Siong Seng's temporary leave.
Teo Siong Seng, aged 71, said in May that he would not seek re-election after his term ended on June 24. He had earlier temporarily stepped down from his roles as SBF Chairman, Executive Chairman of Pacific International Lines, and other positions to handle charges by the US Department of Justice. Earlier reports by Lianhe Zaobao indicated that the US accused him of involvement in price-fixing of dry containers.
