The Federation held its 24th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday (June 24) and elected the 13th Council for a two-year term until 2028.
## New Council Composition and New Members
SBF said in a statement that the new council has 24 members: 12 elected members, 11 representatives from trade associations and chambers, and one co-opted member.
There are six new council members:
- Adam Click, Chairman of AmCham Singapore
- Mo Ssiang, President of the Singapore Restaurant Association

During the AGM, SBF also held the fifth Future Ready Business Dialogue, with guest of honor Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing.
Themed "Whole-of-System Preparation: What Changes Must Government and Business Make," the dialogue brought together senior executives and policymakers to discuss how companies can enhance resilience, build future-ready capabilities, and navigate growing uncertainties.
## Lee Chien Hui's Focus: Competitiveness, Resilience, Future-Ready
New chairman Lee Chien Hui, also a Nominated Member of Parliament, said in the statement that geopolitical tensions, rapid AI development, and shifting trade patterns are reshaping the global economy, bringing both challenges and opportunities to businesses.
Lee stated:
- The top priority is to ensure businesses remain competitive, resilient, and future-ready
- He will work closely with businesses, government, and industry partners to develop practical solutions
- Foster a pro-business environment and help companies build capabilities for innovation, internationalization, and sustainable growth
He also noted that Singapore will chair ASEAN next year, a good opportunity to deepen regional economic integration and consolidate ASEAN as a key global growth engine. SBF will work with regional partners to turn these opportunities into tangible business outcomes and promote a more connected, innovative, and sustainable ASEAN.
Lee previously served as SBF Vice Chairman and Treasurer. He also acted as SBF Chairman during Chew Siong's temporary leave.
## Chew Siong Not Seeking Re-election; Tenure Arrangement
Chew Siong, 71, issued a statement in May saying he would not seek re-election after his SBF chairman term ended on June 24. He had earlier stepped down temporarily from his roles including SBF chairman, executive chairman and director of Pacific International Lines, to deal with charges from the US Department of Justice.
Earlier, Lianhe Zaobao reported that US authorities accused him of involvement in manipulating dry container prices.
